Oumou Sangaré, sometimes known as “The Songbird of Wassoulou,” is a Grammy Award-winning Malian Wassoulou performer. Wassoulou is a historical location south of the Niger River where the music is based on age-old traditional song and is frequently accompanied by a calabash.
